FDA & the Glitter Fiasco

Recently there was an announcement on a supplier website that cosmetic grade glitter is not on the approved list per FDA. Research has shown that this is indeed the case. FDA is providing an in...terim period for formulators, both indie and corporate, to respond. Responses could range from reformulation to petitioning to have cosmetic grade glitter, which has been used for years in cosmetics, approved by FDA. At this point we will continue to formulate using the industry standard .004 micron cosmetic grade glitter while we await FDA's decision. We are very encouraged by the fact that the ingredient has been in use for years, is approved by the EU, and that FDA is at this point not barring its use. We will be working over the next few days to mark which of our shades contain cosmetic grade glitter so that you may choose whether or not you wish to purchase them. We appreciate your patience while we await the decision and are confident that there will be a swift resolution that will be beneficial for everyone. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know. Thank you.

In any event that the FDA does officially bar all use of cosmetic grade glitter, I will be sending out an email to all those who have purchased any eyeshadows that contain glitter.

Again, I thank you for your continued support.

Some insight into the company changes.. including our own domain name!

Well, my loverlies, after months of fighting & the run around with the great state of Oklahoma, I am happy to say I finally got my sales permit! (:  That being said, I unfortunately have to charge state tax of 4.5% + the city/county tax of any Oklahoma resident. ):  I have a website that I go to to figure out what your city/county tax is. I know zip code 73132 is 8.375% [that includes the state].... For now, when you order via email [still setting up shop], I will include this sales tax. When I finally get the site running, it will automatically charge Oklahoma residents 4.5% & I will have to go through individually to collect your city/county tax. I am sorry of any inconvenience this has caused. [this became effective 19august2011]

Also, at the request of a customer, we have added an additional shipping option of a standard bubble mailer for $2.50 for the first item & 50c for each additional item. Collections, sample packs, eyeshadow bundle packs, etc count as 1 item. When placing an order, if you wish to have this cheaper option, please email me first so that I may post a custom listing for you.

Also! All orders over $15 [before shipping] will receive 15% off! This will last until I open the store front.

One last thing! WE HAVE OUR OWN DOMAIN NAME!! woooo!!! Check it out:

So just what have we been up to since the move?!

Well, for those who bought the NBC collection, you have all ready sampled what we've been doing. (:  But for those of you who don't know:
solid lotion bars!
Right now they're only available in sample form until I test how they'll do in a larger container. Samples come in a 2x2x2 square with either 1 of the 4 we have premade or you can make your own. (: To design your own solid lotion bar for $2 {+ shipping}, visit the store {here} & make sure in the "notes to seller" you specify which you would like.

The four premades we have available now are:
"Barrel" {red rose, thyme, & vanilla scent}
"Let's Eat Cake" {birthday cake scent}
"Lock" {cucumber melon scent}
"Shock" {tropical temptation scent}

A list of all available scents is: here.

We have also been reviewed again! Check it out: Glitterbity: Review of Lucky 107

We are also now offering "review kits". (: Within the United States gets free shipping while international has to pay standard price {sorry! it's just so expensive to ship overseas}. Click here for all you up & coming reviewers & click here for you more experienced review gurus. (:

On top of releasing the solid lotion bars, we have reformulated "Concrete". It has now more reader friendly ingredients, & more adhesion power.
old formula:
Avobenzone, Octinoxate, Water, Glycerin, Petrolatum, Stearic Acid, Glycol Stearate, Dimethicone, Isopropyl Isostearate, Tapicoa Starch, Cetyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Carborner, Ethylene Brassylate, Triethanolamine, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, & Titanium Dioxide
new formula:
Water, emulsifying wax, sweet almond oil, mica, titanium dioxide, iron (iii) oxide, & preservative cap 5

i'm hoping to start rolling out some new colors later this week. (: so yes, we have been busy bees. :D

What have we been up to?!

Well, we reopened later than we had hoped but it was a success! Our 35% off the entire store for one week went off without a hitch! Thank you to everyone who supported us. (:  Now it's back to our regular scheduled programming... with a few new additions.

First off, we are starting a new program [well, new to us!] called Color of the Week [or cotw]. What this little number does is take a fan voted color [see our cotw album on the fan page, here, & click the "like" button underneath your favorite color. voting for the week ends june 12 - winning color announce june 13th] & puts it on sale from Monday to Sunday for just $2! yep, a full size jar for just $2!! The color selection to be voted on changes each week, so be on the look out.

Second, we have created our own Lucky 107 exclusive t-shirt!
Design by Yanelis C.
You can buy it from our ArtFire store for $20 + shipping [click here to be taken directly to the shirt]; any size! It will be printed on a plain white t-shirt. When purchasing, please put your preferred size in the "notes to seller" section.

Once I get my scale in [the one I had broke so I had to order another one], be on the look out for whipped sugar body scrubs! That's right, a new & improved version of our old sugar scrubs! Looking to see if we carry your favorite fragrance so you can get your hands on one of these? Go here to see what fragrances we carry. Looking for a certain fragrance & we don't seem to carry it? Email me at & ask if we can get your scent in. (:

To those ladies awaiting birthday packages for April & May: the move messed things up big time here at the shop, so I will get these out ASAP. Is your birthday in June? Email me the following application to
+ Name:
+ Birthday:
+ Address:
+ Eye Color:
+ Favorite Color:
+ Allergies
+ Vegetarian/Vegan:

Why am I asking if you're vegetarian or vegan? To ensure you do not receive a product that contains animal by products - like beeswax & carmine.

That's all for now, my lovely Ladies of Luck. Keep your eyes peeled for future updates.

hello again!
some big things are happening over here & i just wanted to get everyone up to speed.

first off, we are MOVING!! come april 28th, i will have packed up shop & be on my way into my new house & new office space. (: as of friday, april 22nd, lucky 107 will be SHUT DOWN until i get things settled in the new place. why? well, long story short, something happened with us being able to move in april 28th so we will be staying in a hotel until may 3rd & i do not think creating pretties for you loverlies in a hotel is the most sanitary thing to do... so i have made an executive decision to close for approximately 2weeks.

well, that covered points one & two... now onto the "ladies of luck" birthday club.

to receive a free birthday gift from lucky107 you MUST submit the following application DURING YOUR BIRTHDAY MONTH! if i receive the application, before or after your birthday month, it will be ignored. i'm sorry i have to do it this way, it's just really hard to get flooded with tons of emails & then half the time people forget they applied or they're only visiting the fanpage because they saw "free gift". this is a way for me to "weed out" those that are just looking to scored something for free. anyhow! please remit the following application to DURING YOUR BDAY MONTH.
+ Name
+ Birthday
+ Eye Color
+ Favorite Color
+ Allergies
+ Vegan/Vegetarian

birthday gifts will be mailed the month after your birthday. please see the list below on when to expect your gift:

New Shop Hours

Hello loverlies.

I wanted to extended my biggest thanks to all you ladies of luck who have made Lucky 107 what it is. From the day we opened in November until now, Lucky107 has, essentially, been open 24/7. Meaning from the minute I get up until the time I go to bed, I'm answering emails, packaging, mailing orders, & creating new products - obviously when I can find the time before the kids get up & while they're napping & after they go to bed. However, with this schedule, I am neglecting other things I want to do [ie: finish my sons' scrapbooks]... so, starting today [31march2011], Lucky 107 will only be "open" Monday-Friday. Saturdays & Sundays are going to be family days & "me" days. That's not to say I won't respond to emails or check up on the FanPage... I just won't be processing orders or mailing anything out or creating anything new.

I hope you all can understand. Thank you for your continued support.

Vegan & Cruelty Free... + T.A.T.

ok, I just want to clarify this: to me, vegan & cruelty free are TWO different things. To me, vegan is NO animal products or by products [beeswax & carmine being most common] & cruelty free is not tested on animals. NONE of my products are tested on animals - besides, I don't think my dogs would hold still enough to let me put eyeshadow on them [not that I would anyway!]. I do carry some products that contain carmine & beeswax but am currently looking into vegan options for the beeswax so that vegans may also enjoy our lip glosses, balms, & [coming soon] solid perfumes.

now onto our T.A.T [turn around time]: i strive to keep the t.a.t as short as possible... HOWEVER, being a mom to 2 infants [14m & 2m] & 2 furbabies, in school full time, & having to do the domestics, life tends to get ahead of me sometimes to where the end of the day I'm too tired to sit down in the office & do anything. so, as a general rule, our T.A.T is a week. sometimes shorter but no more. (:

pretty in pinks: the first tutorial.

This is the first tutorial EVER done by me. (:  After all the suggestions to do one, I finally did it! I used pinks & a red for this look, so here we go - step by step! Feel free to substitute with whatever colors you have on hand & whatever eye goodies you have. All eyeshadows, the foiling serum, & eyeshadow primer are Lucky107.

What makes the magic happen. (:

The Eyeshadows needed for this look:
»Gryffindor - from the Harry Potter House Collection
»Southern Belle - from the G.R.I.T.S Collection
»mNg in a Jar - single pigmie
»Samcro - from the Sons of Anarchy Collection
»/facepalm - from the Interwebs Collection

The eye goodies:
»Concrete - eyeshadow primer
»Drat! Foiled Again - foiling serum
»NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk - base

More eye goodies:
»Almay Intense I-Color in Black Pearl - liquid eyeliner
»Wet 'n' Wild in Black - pencil eyeliner
»Prestige "My Biggest Lashes" in Very Black - mascara

»Bella - creme blush

The "magic" tools:
»Small brush - the is a small random brush I had laying around - its not necessary but it makes crease work so much easier.
»Studio Tools Medium Eyeshadow brush- I got mine from Target

Now that we have everything we need assembled, lets get started...
First start off with priming your entire eye [from lash line all the way up to your eyebrow] with the Concrete. You only need a little bit. Too much & your eye will get all slimy & nothing will stick.

Next you need to apply your base. I used NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil [color: milk]. These things are a godsend! I picked up 2 for $7 [including shipping] off ebay. I picked up milk & black bean but we're only using milk for this eye design. (:

Once you "color" on your lid [again, start out with using a little bit & blending into your eye.. you can always add more if need be - too much & it'll crease & crack & look yucky] You can barely see it on my lid, but it is noticeably whiter in person.

Next we need our foiling serum [Drat! Foiled Again], medium eyeshadow brush, & Gryffindor.

Squeeze a little bit of the foiling serum from the tube & get the tip of the brush barely wet [wet enough to hold pigment, but not too wet -- too wet & your eyes will start to get a warming sensation to them if this happens, wipe everything off & start over]. Then dip it into Gryffindor until you have picked up enough pigment to cover JUST YOUR LID.
Cover JUST your lid with Gryffindor.
Next, dry your brush off really well & make sure you have no other pigment on it. Then dip it into Southern Belle
Apply Southern Belle in your crease & fade up to your brow bone.
Repeat the process with mNg in a Jar but don't fade all the way up to the brow bone.
Then take your little brush [if you have it]....
& use it to apply Samco into the deepest part of your crease. DO NOT FADE.

Yep, go back to this brush. its time to highlight!
You need the lightest color in your arsenal for this, & in our case, it's /facepalm from the Interwebs Collection.

Apply to under your eyebrow & fade into your pinks & over them to soften the colors.

Woo! Eyeshadows are done! Now its time to make these suckers pop with some eyeliner...
 liquid eyeliner...

 & mascara...

TADA! (:

This next step is optional but it adds a nice tint to your cheeks. Take a dab of Bella creme blush & smear it on your cheek bones. The more you apply, the darker the color becomes.

& voila! The final product! <3

So I hope you loverlies enjoyed my first tutorial. This style was actually a dupe from another makeup junkie. (: Here is the link to my inspiration:  Confessions of a Glitterholic.

Shipping: Prices & Refunds - What to Expect.

i just wanted to clarify some things when it comes to shipping so as to not confuse anyone & to make service a bit easier. shipping within the US [hawaii & alaska included] is $3 for the first item & 50¢ for each additional item. it'll come in a small white box with the pretty packaging [seen here]. when shipped, your order will have a delivery confirmation number which will be emailed to you with your detailed invoice. (:

now with international shipping [APO/FPO do NOT count as international... they will be considered US mail & military members get FREE shipping]: it will cost $7 for the first item & 50¢ for each additional item. price seem a bit steep for one eyeshadow? you can opt out of the extensive packaging & go for your items wrapped in tissue paper in a bubble mailer. HOWEVER, your original invoice will still be marked for $7 but you will be refunded the difference [see below for more details]. international shipping, however, does NOT come with a delivery confirmation number. this isn't because i said so - its a USPS thing. sorry. ):

now on to refunds: if your shipping cost is LESS than the price i charged you for shipping, you will be refunded the difference. (:  you won't be refunded the difference until i make it to the PO & ship out your order.

if you have any questions regarding shipping, packaging options, or refunds please shoot me an email at:

Changes to Lucky107 [policies, shipping, products, etc..]

I know I just wrote a post on whats going on here at the studio, but I have made some more changes & these are slowly being phased in. As a recap [& to add further information to past updates], I will be reiterating changes that I mentioned in the last post. So get ready to be introduced to the whole new Lucky 107. (:

+ Pigmies & Collections:Single Colors [also known as "pigmies"] are now $3.75 each for a 5g jar. Please note that you do not get 5g of product. It is sold base on the volume of product that will fit in the jar, not on weight [as that some minerals weigh more than others]. Also, collections can no longer be separated. I have thought long & hard about this decision & find it best to not separate them. You can, however, still order a color out of the collection in then sample pack to see if that color from the collection will work for you but to get the color in a 5g jar you must order the full collection. sorry. ):

Due to the rise in shipping costs at the post office, I have to now start charging shipping. It is $3 for the first item [ie: 1 5g pigmie jar, 1 collection, 1 lipgloss, etc...] & then 50cents for each additional item afterwards. HOWEVER, since sugar scrubs are so heavy they are $4 for shipping & then 50cents for each additional item. Need me to ship international? Its a flat $7 - unless you are ordering just 1 pigmie, then its $3.

+Shipping Policy:
At this current point in time we only ship on Fridays because I have an infant & a 1 year old & it is really hard to take them in & out of the vehicle by myself. Now I'm not making excuses, but for now I will only ship Fridays. Should you need it mailed to you sooner, please email me at: to discuss priority shipping prices. Please be aware that I have been told that shipping it priority does not guarantee that you will receive it in 2-3 days so please plan accordingly.

All products will now contain an ingredients label, a label that has the name on it with what its used for [ie: eyes, face, lip, or nails... or a combo of the 4], & my information: * Made in OKC * Dist by: Lucky107

+Birthday Club:
Want to get a special little something in your birthday month? Sign up for the "Ladies of Luck" Birthday Club. Email me at: with the following information:
-Email Address
-Favorite Color
-Eye Color

+Vegan or Not:
Not all of our products are vegan. Most of our reds & pinks & some of our purples contain Carmine. "Carmine is a brilliant red dye made from crushed scale insects, typically cochineal or Polish cochineal insects"  Our lipgloss base & lipbalm base also contains beeswax which make these not vegan! In the product listing & on the label for the product, it will tell you if it's vegan or not.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of the product we can not accept a return or exchange on any makeup product. However if for any reason you are unsatisfied with your product, please email me at: & I will be more than happy to offer you store credit or send you a different product.

+"Bulk" Sales:
Coming soon...
Buy 4 pigmies for $11 + shipping.
Buy 5 pigmies for $15 + shipping.

+From Sample to Full Size:
If you purchase a sample of an eyeshadow color then decide you like it, receive 50cents off the full 5g jar! (:

I believe that's it for now... Will edit as I see fit.

upcoming changes in february 2011

hello loverlies.
there are some changes taking place in February. nothing major, nothing serious. i've just been talking with some mineral makeup [mmu] gurus & have had the wonderful opportunity to have the review some things from the shop in efforts to make them better. so, here's what to look forward to starting February 1st:
+ all 5g single colors will be $3.75.
collection prices will still depend on packaging, cost of production, & cost of shipping.
+ get 50cents off a 5g jar eyeshadow purchase.
when you buy a sample, if you decide you love the color sooooooooo much get 50cents off the full size jar at your next order! *you will receive a coupon code in your sample package to use at checkout - must be redeemed at the artfire store.
+new products & product listings.
i will be changing the way i list things & how they are presented on fb & it is all ready in the works but will be completed by then.

important changes to lucky107 ♥

hello loverlies.

its been a long time coming since my last update & i have been a very busy bee... i had my baby [23dec @ 335am ON MY BATHROOM FLOOR! he weighed 6lbs 12oz & was 20in long♥], celebrated Christmas via webcam with my family on the east coast, celebrated my oldests son's first birthday with my family on the east coast [via webcam] & my cowboy church family. ♥ but i digress.

i am making some changes to the shop to better ensure that we are tightly following the guidelines of the FDA so there are no miscommunications and everyone is on the same page.

as i have been saying for a while, i will ONLY ship on fridays. need it sooner? priority mail is an extra $5 & your order will be shipped the next day [providing the next day isn't a sunday or the PO isn't closed due to a holiday]. please be advised, that i have been made aware [through word of mouth & my own experience], shipping something priority DOESN'T mean that it's guaranteed to make it there by the requested date. sorry, but this is what the PO has told people i know & i just want to relay the message.

due to the nature of our products [ie: the makeup and bath/body products] we can not accept exchanges. however, if you are in any way unsatisfied with your purchase please return all items to me for a full refund minus the cost of shipping. if you need to exchange any article of clothing or accessory, please return the item to me & i will ship out your exchange [of equal or lesser value -- if your new items costs more than the previous item, please pay the difference] when i receive the original item. to discuss all returns & exchanges, please email me at:

always accepted. always free of charge.
in compliance with the FDA you will see a change in our labeling system of the makeup. i am currently awaiting the proper labels for that clean professional look, so at the moment the labels to be seen on your products are temporary until the new labels arrive.
an up-to-date ingredient list is always available on all makeup we make. in addition to the new labels, the ingredients will be listed on the makeup as well. you may also always see the ingredient list here.

please note that not all of products are vegan. the ones that are are labeled as such.

our eyeshadow pots are considered to by 5gram pots. HOWEVER! they do not hold 5grams worth of product. ):  so the pots are filled by volume, not weight. sorry...

now that all of the changes have been brought to everyones attention, here is what's coming up for us!

in chapstick like tubes, pots, & wands. yayyy! ♥

collections & single colors coming sooooon!!

to take place of the ViP membership. (:  this is open to everyone. just email me your birthday, mailing address, eye color, favorite color & email address & sometime during the month of your birthday you will receive a surprise! it will usually happen around the 15th of the month. you can receive anything from samples, to full size pots, to gift certificates, to coupon codes for the store. its a grab bag of awesomeness! how will i decide who gets what in their birthday month? i will put the above prize options into a random generator & that will pick the gift for the month. & yes, it is still called "ladies of luck".

in order to expand our fan base, i have opened an artfire! you can check it out here. some things are not available on artfire that are available through the fan page, so make sure you keep checking that fan page. but everything on artfire is available on the fan page. (:
so i think thats everything. i hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday! i know i did... now its back to the "grind" & getting everything in the shop caught up to speed.
