FDA & the Glitter Fiasco

Recently there was an announcement on a supplier website that cosmetic grade glitter is not on the approved list per FDA. Research has shown that this is indeed the case. FDA is providing an in...terim period for formulators, both indie and corporate, to respond. Responses could range from reformulation to petitioning to have cosmetic grade glitter, which has been used for years in cosmetics, approved by FDA. At this point we will continue to formulate using the industry standard .004 micron cosmetic grade glitter while we await FDA's decision. We are very encouraged by the fact that the ingredient has been in use for years, is approved by the EU, and that FDA is at this point not barring its use. We will be working over the next few days to mark which of our shades contain cosmetic grade glitter so that you may choose whether or not you wish to purchase them. We appreciate your patience while we await the decision and are confident that there will be a swift resolution that will be beneficial for everyone. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know. Thank you.

In any event that the FDA does officially bar all use of cosmetic grade glitter, I will be sending out an email to all those who have purchased any eyeshadows that contain glitter.

Again, I thank you for your continued support.
